It was the best of time for Indian cricket. It was still a gentleman’s sport in the first decade of the new millennium. And Mr Dependable still used to represent India. He last played in 2013, but The Wall of the Indian cricket team is still remembered fondly and missed terribly. We not only miss the incredible cricketer that he was; we also miss the Gentleman of Indian Cricket. On Rahul Dravid birthday, an old MTV Bakra video has gone viral, and it proves what an incredible man he has always been.
Take a look at the MTV Bakra video that’s gone viral on Rahul Dravid birthday:
Well Hardik Pandya incident reminded me of a young Rahul Dravid who was bullied in MTV Bakra and how well he responded to it. You always can set the right example if you have it in you. Must watch! pic.twitter.com/5X4Py9LvR9

The video clip is from the show MTV Bakra, a show that used to play practical jokes and pranks on unsuspecting people. In this video, Rahul Dravid was the prey of the show. The anchor, a young girl in her early twenties, pretends to be a journalist. As seen in the video, the girl, at the end of the interview, asks the crew members to leave. Dravid leaves the seat beside her and concentrates on the food, when the girl drops a bomb and asks Dravid to marry her. Young Dravid is taken aback by the proposition, but he immediately attempts to dismiss her. At this point, another man enters the room, pretending to be the girl’s father. And Dravid advises him to ask his daughter to concentrate on her studies and career.
Recently, Hardik Pandya appeared on Coffee with Karan stole negative attention with his casual racism and unchecked misogyny. After the fiasco, he even tried some damage control in the garb of an apology scripted by his PR team. He is not the only one among the new-age cricketers to have changed the image of cricket with their brazen attitude; and, those who have grown up watching players like Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, and of course, Rahul Dravid, miss the elegance of the sport.
In the MTV video clip, Dravid stays put and shows no intention of taking advantage of the offer from the young girl. And, people on the internet can’t help comparing him with Pandya, who blatantly objectified the women in his life, and spoke of his flings as conquests. On Rahul Dravid birthday, we can only say that we miss the gentleman of Indian cricket.
