But, on the occasion of Barbie’s 60th birthday, there’s a new range of collectable dolls hitting the shelves; these are dedicated to women from different fields! And, Banglar mey Dipa Karmakar gets her own Barbie doll!

The chosen women have different professions; chefs, scientists, ice dancers, mountaineers, tennis players, directors, activists, journalists, fencers, etc. have stolen the limelight. The entire world has applauded this move. Barbie dolls have remained the favourite toys of young girls for generations. And now, with dolls dedicated to women who have made contributions to various fields, little girls will surely be inspired to be more than just pretty girls with all things pink. If the dolls weren’t priced at $30, the dolls would probably reach a much larger group of girls.
These dolls will remind their impressionable owners constantly that they can go ahead and be whoever they want to be, no matter what field they choose or what background they come from. To help instil the realisation, Barbie has chosen real women who have made it big in offbeat fields, women who have broken all stereotypes regarding what a woman can and cannot do. And, the fact that Barbie found our Dipa Karmakar a woman whose footsteps can be followed by girls is indeed a great recognition and celebration of this amazing sportswoman.
